On April 10, about 75 people attended a groundbreaking for a new SpringHill Suites hotel in downtown Alamosa.

To be built at the old Welsh Motel site. 

As the old Walsh Hotel finally comes tumbling down this week, the Alamosa City Council will vote on an incentive package for a new hotel development on the same block that involves swapping properties with developer Manish Patel.

Another hotel is coming to the busy northern stretch of Powers Boulevard, whose dozens of stores and restaurants make it arguably Colorado Springs' hottest retail corridor and where thousands of homes fill nearby neighborhoods.
